SHANNON MURPHY
Shannon was introduced to powerlifting in 2011. She was a multi-sport athlete growing up, and found powerlifting after she completed law school. She saw it as a way to get back into sports.
Shannon lifted in her first competition 2013 and was instantly hooked on the thrill of the platform. Powerlifting quickly became more than a hobby, but rather a second family. After an injury prevented Shannon from competing for awhile, meet directing became a great way to continue to stay involved in the sport.
Directing meets allows Shannon to focus on her skills of organization and attention to detail. Shannon’s goal is to make each event just a little better than the last, for both the spectators and lifters.
KEN GRAACK
Ken started his lifting career to gain strength for football and wrestling. He competed in his first powerlifting competition in high school at the urging of one of his football coaches, who was a powerlifter at the time.
Powerlifting became an integral part of Ken’s life over the years. He has now been a competitor and coach for the better part of 3 decades. Ken also founded American Strength Training Center in 2014, which has become one of the premier powerlifting gyms in Minnesota.
Ken started out hosting powerlifting competitions at the gym, and it naturally progressed towards directing meets. After being involved in the sport for so many years, as both an athlete and a coach, Ken knew he could bring something special to the local meets he directed. Ken and his co-director, Shannon, strive to make each event better than the last, with the meet experience of athletes, coaches, and spectators being of the uptmost importance.
